Jake Coffy

After graduating high school in 2015, I decided to pursue my dream of hiking the entirety of the Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail is a 2,200 mile footpath stretching from Georgia to Maine across 14 states. The average time for hiking the distance in one season is 5-6 months and I had a goal to hike it in 4. At 18 years old, on May 1st, 2016, I started this great trek in Georgia and began walking north.

On September 1st, exactly 4 months later, I conquered the Appalachian Trail. This was by far one of the hardest tasks I have ever had to overcome in my life. Now, I get to share this experience with others.

Some topics & focus when sharing this experience with others:

  1. Overcoming challenges that seem impossible
  2. Following your passion, even when it seems insane
  3. Deciding who you are while staring in the eyes of the bear
  4. The importance of supporting & preserving our parks
