Gorman Nature Center Building
Masks are required for entry into the Visitor's Center! Outdoor restrooms will be available to GNC visitors.
Gorman Nature Center operated by the Richland County Park District features 150 acres of deciduous forests, fields, prairies, ponds, and streams, over five miles of public hiking trails close to the population centers of Richland County. Hiking trails open from dawn till dusk , the facilities visitor center from (9am-4pm) Monday-Saturday. RCPD staff naturalists sponsor weekly programs for the public featuring a wide variety of topics ranging from naturalist-led hikes, field trips, lectures, workshops, and night sky programs. In addition to public programming, the RCPD offers daily on-site or nature center programs for schools, youth groups, garden clubs, senior citizens. The Richland County Park District operates two facilities- The Gorman Nature Center and The Richland County B&O Trail.
Access to the GNC Visitor Center will be limited to groups of 10 people, for 10-15 minutes per group. Groups will visit two areas inside of the building, with access to restrooms, for 10-15 minutes per area. Visitors may sign up for visitation slots at the nature center, outside of the Visitors Center, upon arrival. Visitors may sign up for additional visits, to the inside of the Visitor Center building, following their initial visit. Participants will be able to view the GNC educational animals (up close views of native Ohio snakes, turtles and salamanders), ask questions, etc.
With ongoing public health concerns and health department mandates regarding the spreading of COVID-19, the 20th Annual Mohican Wildlife Weekend " Survivor Mohican" will be held with restrictions and recommended guidelines for the event. Please sign up to stay updated with our plans for 2021!
